The Day: What happens when the wedding planner design's their own wedding? Aimee Heninger of Sierra Weddings was faced with that task. Aimee and Jason’s main objective was to treat their friends and family to a wedding like no other. Originality, romance and attention to detail, were key. The day began by letting nature set the stage for the ceremony. As the bride glided down the aisle to the sounds of Avalanche Violin and Guitar guests were able to enjoy a 180-degree view of granite mountains and pine trees at the Lake Tahoe Golf Course. After the ceremony nature gave a thunderstorm / hail show like no other, as if the heavens were clapping. After the cocktail reception the guests journeyed to the reception site hosted on the shore of lake tahoe at Edgewood. With sweeping views of Lake Tahoe and the golf greens, this was certainly an event to be remembered. While XSight captured the video and photographs of the day guests were able to enjoy the fine dining Tahoe locals have come to enjoy at Edgewood. Thrans Flowers created floral arrangements that complemented the event of a lifetime.
Aimee and Jason put a twist on the "Anniversary Dance" where a couple honors the longest married guests with the bride's bouquet. Aimee contacted all of the married couples invited to the wedding and asked them their anniversary date and first dance song so she could create a CD of music as favors. In the process, however, she found out that Shirley and Proctor Evans had been married the longest at 55 years. Aimee obtained a picture of Shirley's bridal bouquet and had Thrans Flowers recreate it for presentation to the couple. As couples were eliminated during the dance the last couple remaining was Shirley and Proctor. At that point Aimee and Jason presented the bouquet to a stunned Shirley. After DJ Bill McClain asked for words of wisdom from Shirley and Proctor the couples danced to "Give Me Your Hand" which was Shirley and Proctor's first dance song. A lovely cake created by Sweet Sensations and a chocolate fountain were enjoyed by all the guests, but most importantly the guests enjoyed the day with Aimee and Jason as the woman who always helped others on their day, helped herself.
The Rehearsal dinner was enjoyed aboard the Lake Tahoe Cruises Paradise.
The wedding was featured as a Real Wedding in Today's Bride
